Another year has finally come to an end. Boy it has been a roller coaster ride for sure. Great fishing, good company and of course some pretty nasty hurricanes. Although we have had some obstacles to over come in 2005 we are happy and still open for business. Actually we are slammin and fishing is pretty darn good.
Offshore, the conditions couldnt be any nicer. Lately calm breezes and sunshine have made sailfishing an awesome sight. The average size sail is about 80" long and around 50lbs. These acrobats are putting on a show, especially with flat sea conditions. We have been catching most of our sails on live Bally Hoos slow trolled behind the boat. Conch reef and Pickles reef have been good areas including Molasses light and in shallow off of French reef. The average depth has been 140 ft., but, we have found plenty of sail fish as deep as 250 ft. While waiting for a sail fish bite we have had some great Dolphin (Mahi Mahi) action. Dolphin are typically what we fish for in the summer months, but, well take it. King Mackerel have sparked up also. Kings between 10 to 20 lbs. have been common. These agressive fish have been eating deboned Bally Hoo or live pilchards. The smoker size fish 30lbs + have been more interested in larger baits such as Speedos or Runners. Wahoo have been spotty. Since we high speed troll for Wahoo when specifically targeting them we cover alot of ground. Right now they are day to day. Bottom fishing has been up and down too. There has been some decent black Grouper and Mutton snapper on the deep wrecks. Yellow tail snapper are consistant on the edge of the reef between 60 to 100 feet. If you are planning to come down and visit make sure you get out there and catch some fish. Thanks to all of our clients for supporting us year after year. We love you guys and wish you and your families a wonderful fun filled 2006. Thanks to all of our friends and collegues.
