High everyone, I hope you are all doing well. We are just fine in the sunshine. The weather has warmed the last couple of days and fishing has never cooled off. Offshore fishing has been better than good. If you are planning a sailfish trip dont wait too long. Sailfishing has been phenominal. We have had no problem catching bait in the mornings. Bally Hoo are swarming the reefs and easy to catch. The fun part might be fishing for big Cero Mackerel when chumming up the Bally Hoo. On light tackle the Ceros make huge runs and go balistic. There not bad eating either. We have had some good Grouper and Mutton action also around these bait areas. I guess its just nice to catch some dinner while you are bait fishing. Once weve caught our fill of bait weve made short easy runs to the sailfish hole. Actually the entire reef edge has been productive for the sail fish and King Mackerel. Ive been starting as shallow as 60 feet and going as deep as 250 finding fish in all depths. While we watch our surface baits we have been able to sneak out a bottom rod most of the time. This keeps you busy while your waiting for a surface rod to fire off. Mutton Snapper averaging 8 to 12 pounds have been common including a pick of healthy Black Grouper. Kings eat you up when you find them, scarfing deboned Bally Hoo rigged on wire. Not much to mention on the Dolphin this week. We catch a stray fish here and there, but really not the groups we caught 2 weeks ago. Tuna have been quiet also.
Inshore the bite has suffered a little with this last cold front. Sea trout have been decent while the Snook and reds have been playing hide and seek with us. You really have to fish an all day trip to venture further out back to find piles of fish ocuppying the creeks and channels surrounding Flamingo. Your best bet for planning a trip is either sail fishing and working the deep reefs or bouncing around the patch reefs to bend the rods. Regardless, the weather is good and most of the species are eating. Lets go fishing! Give me a call and we can set it up. Take care,
Capt. George Clark Jr.
