Hi again and I hope all is well with you. We are doing fine here in the Florida Keys. Key Largo fishing has been good lately but not great. Right now we are able to search out and catch quite a few species. Sail fishing has slowed down compared to what it was in January at this time. Although we can still go out and get a few shots if we put the time in. King fishing however has only gotten better. Kings averaging 15 to 20 pounds are schooling around the reefs edge. Live pilchards and cigar minnows are your best bet for the mackerel and possibly a stray Wahoo. We fish these baits on wire rigs (stingers)on spinning gear. This allows us the chance to still hook into a hungry sail too. Wahoo fishing has been slow on the troll so far. We have had a string of dolphin bites though. Mostly smaller fish right now feeding in patches of weed which harbour small bait fish. We have found some nicer dolphin mixed in. Also on the troll black fin tuna and bonito are cruising around just offshore of the reef line. Feathers and squid skirts have worked 9 out of 10 times for these quick migrators. The Black fins are around 6 to 12 pound range. Bottom fishing has been slow also. We have had to work hard to get the fish to bite. Black Groupers and muttons have stayed in on the reef around 100 feet while we have snagged some red groupers out in the 200 foot depth. The amberjack are starting to show up on the humps if you can get a bait thru the predators. So over all there are lots to fish for but I look forward to seeing the bite increase.
Thanks and tight lines.
