No matter which way you venture in the boat chances are you will catch some fish. Today Capt. George Clark Sr. went offshore on the GOTTA MON and caught some very nice fish. Capt. George Sr. stopped off this morning and caught some Speedos in 60 feet of water. The wind was light and the water on the edge of the reef was crystal clear with a slight North East current. Dad set up on the edge in 135 feet and put out a couple speedos rigged on stinger rigs. Quickly the baits were eaten by nice King Mackerel. Both Kings were 20 pounds. After a few more shots on the Kings dad ventured North to a good bottom spot. When he arrived instead of anchoring they set up to slow troll two livies on the surface and one down deep. Instantly the bottom rod bowed up and they hooked a monster of a grouper. While they pulled hard against the giant black grouper the rigger fired off and then the other snapped free both spinners were screaming off line. They fought both fish on the surface while another angler worked on the bottom stick. The fighting lasted about 20 minutes and when the smoke cleared 2 forty pound Wahoo lay on the deck beside a 50 pound Grouper. Now thats what I call fishing. They finished off their day catching a few more fish over the course of the day and no one went hungry.
I ventured the other direction this morning heading out into the Everglades in my Ranger flats boat. I stopped off before hand and grabbed 12 dozen shrimp from the bait shop and bulleted West to Cape Sable. Along the way we stopped and hammered some sea trout and lady fish in a nice mullet mud. After an hour we continued West to the Cape. When we reached the fishing grounds we nestled into a small creek where we flipped shrimp on Jig heads under the mangroves. We plinked around until we started catching a few small reds and one snook. After lunch we worked another little elbow where the current was trickling in. The fish really started to bite around 2pm and we caught another dozen nice redfish and a few Goliath grouper. The day turned out awesome and my tandem of anglers probably finished catching 50 fish for the day. So really fishing is good right now. Give me a call for more info or go ahead and book your day on my calender. Lets go get em.
